“I do not know what anything is for….”
And yet I notice... Everything goes my way…
I didn’t always feel that way, like everything goes my way, no, quite the contrary…
Now I see that this idea is a natural result of accepting the Atonement for myself… What does that have to do with today’s lesson; “I do not know what anything is for”. Let me illuminate…
As I have become willing to question every value that I hold~ keeping in mind the possibility that what I think I see or perceive, just might not be what I first think it is, and at least limited in what I think it is for, I naturally began to allow myself to consider that just maybe I don’t perceive my (or anyone else’s) own best interest. What I noticed is that my willingness to ‘not know what anything is for’ brings my mind more and more easily to the blank screen where meaning can be written for me, the screen where PURPOSE is the only choice.
PURPOSE IS MEANING… This is a primary message in A Course in Miracles and this lesson is opening our eyes to this... As we practice, we begin to experience an ability to suspend assigning meaning ourselves, or more accurately, forgive our false identification and judgment, as soon as we notice the loss of peace.
We begin to understand though the process of our letting go of the ‘rightness’ of our judgments of what things are for and see that, as the course says about ego goals, that ‘purpose cannot be understood at these levels’, (nothing offers me nothing).
We learn instead to ask ‘what is this for?’ as the Course recommends, and we see the miracle of a purpose where everything goes everyone’s way…
Since I don’t know what my way is for, by accepting this, I am constantly recognizing witnesses, all around me, that reflect this fact of perfect unity through our shared purpose. The witnesses may seem to be of ‘things’ in this world. Illuminating the Christ within and reflecting our shared purpose of love and the forgiving, therefore dissolving, the blocks to love's awareness in our mind. Today, this lesson, this instant... Let this be our Holy instant of release together…
“The Holy Instant is not an instant of creation, but of recognition. For recognition comes of vision and suspended judgment. “
I’m thinking about the part in the course in chapter 18 where it talks about our Little Willingness and the Happy Dream. I invite you to read these sections in adjunct to your lesson study today (T-18. 8 & T-18.V.1-4). They are so gorgeous…
I join you in the “Happy Dream” today, not knowing what anything is for, but where Atonement's purpose reveals our meaning…
