LESSON SIXTY-EIGHT

Lesson 68:

Love holds no grievances…
Love, which created me, is all that I am … I hold no grievances… Can I say this without reservation, in complete safety and certainty and total peace? Rest in God and nothing else is really happening at all… Love is, and the ‘I’ ceases to be. Forgiveness is the keystone melody that harmonizes all the seeming discord of the personal self and private thoughts.

The belief in personhood must be forgiven, and holding no grievances the key that unlocks to door to the sameness of the Son of God; the Self… We become willing to look more and more deeply at the subtle, seductive programming of the ego thought system, which has but one goal~ its own survival!

But we are not the ego. Through the gentle practices such as today’s lesson, coupled  with our willingness to set aside, however briefly, what we thought we ‘knew’, opens to door to see. Through our willingness to be known by the Holy Spirit, we are able to systematically identify, forgive and finally dismantle the belief in a personal self and personhood as our reality.

A 'personal' self can hold grievances, and a personal self must have ‘others’ in which to evaluate that which is personal its significance; better than or less than, etc… It needs something to weigh against. This is what we might call a necessary evil to make seem solid, what could never be; then specifically identifying the ‘real’-ness of the world peopled by the personhood concept…

A 'person' is an image which is in constant need of defending; it unconsciously fears its instability will be discovered and its ‘nothingness’ revealed. After all, what seems more solid than a person fighting for their very life; defending against enemies perceived and not yet known? …Sitting at the edge of the cave in breathless attack mode, ready at any moment to protect oneself from being stabbed in ones sleep? Only a person has enemies. A person can loose their so-called life, because a person’s life is extinguishable… Yet, persons are only figures in the dream of separation.

We perceive ‘others’ because we sleep. Grievances are the sleeping pills that darken the mind to submission to the deep-sleep or unconsciousness of the belief in ‘special personage’; that we might be the ‘hero’ of the dream. A promise made by the ego in the past, unholy instant of forgetfulness…

The past is nowhere now, having been Corrected instantaneously by the Atonement. It is not reality. We are not mindless, as the ego would have us believe. We are as God created… We are Spirit…  We share the Mind that thinks the thoughts of God…

The miracle restores us to awareness of Mind, and Mind being the activating agent of Spirit, which is our eternal nature. And spirit is in a state of grace forever. Therefore, we are in a state of grace forever…

Where could grievance possibly fit into this perfect picture of all-encompassing peace?
The whole of universe of perception; fleshed out with the scarcity principle, the idea of needs, the structure of personhood, and the entire ego dynamic produces and perpetuates the necessity to order our thoughts with value judgments, dissolves into a single perception of forgiveness.

Judgment is, of course, what is at the heart of grievances. Judgment is the tool we use to develop and maintain hierarchies of values, is the chosen hiding place for the idea that reality is ours to select from. This is the darkness in which the personal-self flails around, attempting to protect its survival.

The Atonement answered this darkened state with the light of truth. And the miracle restores light to the mind with the memory of the Self.
I invite you to read the section in chapter I called “The Escape form Darkness”, as a compliment to today’s lesson.

Love which created us like itself, holds no grievances… so ours are not real. For we are but love.
